2025 Fall AHS Season Recap and Athletics Notes

2025 Fall Sports Recap

We are so grateful to our coaches and players for their commitment to each other. That produced the bonds of trust and support that led to transformative growth on and off the field, plus a bunch of great memories! We express our thanks as well to our Patriot families and parents for their support, along with our amazing teachers for working with students to meld academics and athletics.

Girls soccer (pictured above)

  • Second in state; took No. 1 seed Waterford to double overtime in the championship game before coming up just short in penalty kicks 5-4!
  • Record: 13-7, 4-2 (3rd) in region
  • Gretchen Niemann, UHSAA Academic All-State
  • UIAAA 2A Academic State Champions

Girls tennis

  • Third in state, the best team finish in program history!
  • Individual finishes
    • Chloe Rucker – 1st Singles: Round of 16
    • Scarlett Patterson – 2nd Singles: Semi-finalist
    • Halina Downs – 3rd Singles: Semi-finalist
    • Annie Pearson & Grace Davis – 1st Doubles: 2nd Place
    • Gracie & Annie Bott – 2nd Doubles: STATE CHAMPIONS!
  • JV took region title

Boys golf

  • Third in state, best team finish in program history in just its third year!
  • Carson Vonk, 8th place at state tournament
  • James Smith ranked 5th in UHSAA 2A regular season scoring average
  • Will Braddy ranked 14th in UHSAA 2A regular season scoring average

Girls volleyball

  • 13-11—wonderful progress with the team’s first winning record since the 2021 season!
  • Lost in first round at state

Baseball

  • Second in region tournament
  • Lost in first round at state;
  • Record of 12-12 overall, 10-5 in region

Cross country

  • Girls region champions!
  • Boys third in region
  • Ashley McKay, Academic All-State
  • Boys team earned UIAAA 2A Academic State Champion

Boys middle school soccer

  • Third place in league tournament

Boys MS tennis

  • Tate Brimhall, 3rd place in 2nd singles in UYT MS varsity state tournament
  • UYT MS JV tournament
    • Wyatt Larson, 2nd place in 1st singles
    • Jason Mishler, 3rd place in 2nd singles
    • Damon Miller and Michael McKay, 1st place in 1st doubles
    • Brennan Hamilton and Adam Allred, 3rd place in 2nd doubles

Girls MS volleyball

  • Both teams made it to quarterfinals in state tournament

UCSSAL 6-8th grade boys x 2 teams (A team and development)
UCSSAL 6-8th grade girls x 2 teams (A team and development)
Practice: 6-8th will practice in Rec Hall; 2 x 1-hour practices per week

UCSSAL Girls 6-8th: season underway

UCSSAL Boys 6-8th grade team and 9th grade team
Tryouts dates: December 12, 13
Times:
12/12 – 3:30 – 5 pm
12/13 – 9-10:30 am
Location: Patriot Auxiliary Court, HS Bldg. (PAC)
First game: January 12
Championship game: February 18/February 25

High School Basketball Opportunities

UCSSAL 9th grade boys x 2 teams (A team and development)
Tryouts dates: December 12, 13
Times:
12/12 – 3:30 – 5 pm
12/13 – 9-10:30 am
Location: Patriot Auxiliary Court, HS Bldg. (PAC)
First game: January 12
Championship game: February 18/February 25
Practice: 9th grade boys will practice in PAC. 2 x 90 min practices per week, same time as Frosh Boys. Teams will split the PAC.

UHSAA and USSA BOYS AND GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL TRYOUTS WILL BE HELD SIMULTANEOUSLY. PLAYERS WILL BE SELECTED FOR EITHER USSA LEAGUE OR UHSAA. CUTS MAY OCCUR.

UHSAA Boys and Girls
Tryout dates: November 10-11
Parent meeting: November 13
UHSAA First games: Boys – November 18
UHSAA First Games: Girls – November 19
UHSAA State Championship: Boys – February 10, 13, 19-21
UHSAA State Championship: Girls – February 11, 14, 23-25
Practice: Varsity and JV will practice in ARENA, 2-3 x 90 min. practices per week. Times will change based on the schedule of boys and girls. Frosh boys will practice in PAC. 2-3 x 90min practices per week 3:30-5pm, same time as 9th grade boys. We will split the PAC.

USSA Boys and girls
Tryout dates: November 10-11 (same as UHSAA)
USSA First games: Likely early December, TBD pending league schedule
USSA State Championship: Boys – February
USSA State Championship: Girls – February
Practice: Will practice in PAC. 2 x 90min practices per week 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM. Both boys and girls will split the PAC.

At Fox Hollow golf course (Driving range)

Call backs from Tryouts –11/05/2025
Wednesday Nov 5th, at 4:00– 5:00 PM in the GPF (Golf Practice Facility) in the high school (max. 8 students on the team)
Practices
Practices will be in the GPF from 4:00 -5:00pm
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
