“Mr. Wilson is truly one of the GREATEST teachers in the history of all teachers. He encourages the students to be their very best at all times… He teaches admirable character traits such as integrity, love, genuine interest, kindness, conscientiousness, and hard work BY EXAMPLE!”
“This man is so patient! I have seen him handle situations with so much gentleness and love. He talks so kindly and is so gracious with the kids. He is truly a blessing to us and I’m so grateful my son has him as an example/teacher!”
“Mr. Wilson is kind and encouraging, yet he keeps a classroom of order… He has a talent for instilling confidence… My student knows Mr. Wilson loves him, and he strives to do his best work because he knows his teacher believes in him.”
“He’s the perfect teacher for more sensitive children that struggle with strict discipline and organization. He’s fun and finds creative ways to engage the children.”
“Mr Wilson teaches values daily. He is very positive with the students and was patient with the few days of poor student behavior with my girl. We have been really happy with him as a teacher.”
Curriculum Highlight — I love to teach Geography. I love to share with students my love for this world and other cultures. In fourth grade, we get the opportunity to teach students about such places as: the United Kingdom, Australia, North and South America, and most importantly, Utah. We live in such a unique and exquisite state, and I love having the chance to showcase its beauty.
Why Teaching? — I served a Latter-day Saint mission in Chile. I gained such a joy in teaching people everyday. I decided afterwards that I wanted to have a profession where I could continue to help others.
Your Role — As a core teacher, I get the blessing to get to teach so many delightful subjects. This allows me to help stretch the students’ learning in so many different facets of life.
Family — My wife and I were both raised in Pleasant Grove, UT. We now have three rambunctious and amazing boys. Our two oldest boys thankfully attend American Heritage School, and we have seen so much growth come from it.
Education — Bachelor of Arts, Elementary Education, Utah Valley University
What Makes AHS unique? — For me, AHS is unique, because its a school where you are actually encouraged teach with the Spirit. Here, students are able to grow both academically and spiritually.
Why do you love teaching at AHS? — There is not enough space to list all of the reasons why I love to teach at AHS. I love teaching at a school where I get the chance to feel the power of the Spirit each and every day. I love working at a school where the children are eager to learn and grow, not only academically, but also grow closer to their Savior. I love teaching at a school that teaches true history – His Story. The administration here is nothing but supportive in developing the best out of teachers. The other staff are exemplary leaders and examples.
“I hope to leave a legacy where my students know that they are loved and have taken a step closer to their eternal destination.”
— Mr. Wilson
I have a great love for all things comic-related. I am a huge fan of Spider-man, hence, why I have a large picture of him in my classroom. I love going to the beach. One my favorite trips was with my wife, where we drove along the coast from Northern California’s Redwoods to Northern Oregon.
Some of our favorite family trips take place right here in Utah, which might explain why I was meant to be a 4th grade teacher. My favorite spot in Utah is Bear Lake, which is where my wife and I had our first vacation together.
When I have free time, I love to play tennis, read, watch movies, and spend time with my family. I am actually a little bit of a movie-fanatic. I love learning movie facts, and love to quote what I learn.
