We moved to Utah 7 years ago from Sweden because of a new job. Our kids were going to Ridgeline elementary school first, but we switched to AHS October of 2019. We Love this school! We love to travel and be out in nature together. Game nights, movie nights. Spend our summers in Sweden with our family.

What we love about American Heritage School:

The spirit is there. You feel it from the moment when you pass through the doors. It’s a great environment! How the school weave in gospel principles in good secular learning. Great academic level of education.

Something unique about our family:

We moved to the US from Sweden.

If there is one thing I’d counsel a family looking into an American Heritage School education, I would tell them…

To come and walk around on campus and feel the spirit that is there. It is a unique, safe, nurturing environment. Our kids come home from school in feeling in harmony as supposed to the other schools we’ve had them in.

Children’s grades next year (2023-24):

4th Grade, 7th Grade

Children’s interests and activities at AHS:

Choir, art, reading groups, science, ballroom, plays, music

Family Bio:

We have been at AHS for 5 years now. Our oldest graduated from AHS in 2023. Previously we were living in Tennessee and homeschooling our five children. We love centering our home and the education of our family around principals of the gospel and self-governance.

What we love about American Heritage School:

Everything we were trying to provide for our children while homeschooling, we found at American Heritage tenfold. The opportunities available and the mentors provided through wonderful teachers has been a blessing for our family. We love the mission of AHS is to assist us as parents in preparing the minds and hearts of our children to be useful in the hands of the Lord.

Something unique about our family:

We were living in Tennessee for almost seven years before settling here in beautiful Utah. When our oldest (now graduated from AHS) was in third grade, we realized the Lord was calling us to pull our children out of public school. We felt prompted to bring them home to be educated and prepared for what was in store for them. We began homeschooling and did so for five years until we moved to Utah and discovered AHS. We enrolled all five of our children. Now, we have three children attending AHS.

If there is one thing I’d counsel a family looking into an American Heritage School education, I would tell them…

We, as parents, are our child’s best advocate. The hours of time our children spend at school, in front of a teacher, has a huge influence in shaping their life. This is a worthy matter to be taken to the Lord.

Children’s grades next year (2023-24):

2nd Grade, 4th Grade, 9th Grade, 11th Grade

Children’s interests and activities at AHS:

HS Boy – Baseball, soccer; MS Girl – tennis; Elementary School girls – choir, after school reading opportunities (Amazing Read, etc)

Family Bio:

My husband and I were born and raised in Colorado, and while we have lived our married life in various areas of the country (New York City, Boston, Northern California, and now Utah), we most recently resided for 17 years in Chicago. Our 7 children are all proud midwesterners, but we now enjoy living near extended family and beautiful mountains.
We love family dinners, reading, playing board and card games, skiing and traveling.

What we love about American Heritage School:

We love the family-focused and Christian values based education. We don’t have to worry about the literature our children are reading nor do we worry about our children being taught any of the current social agendas or ideologies that are contrary to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We love the teachers who work diligently to teach our children. We appreciate their care and nurturing (eg wonderful Gospel centered devotionals.) We love the access we have to the teachers and the extra mile they go to help both the student and family.

We love the diversity. We love that the student body consists of families from a variety of geographic areas, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds.

We love the service requirement because it allows everyone to feel a sense of belonging, as well as a chance to get to know other parents. It has also contributed to my own sense of appreciation for the high amount of time and effort it takes to provide our children with so many of the opportunities AHS offers.

We love the uniforms. When wearing uniforms, we feel the students perform better in school. It’s also nice equalizer and removes the distractions of focusing on what students are wearing. Additionally, its lickety-split quick to get ready for school!

We love the community and friendships we have made. We spent 17 years in the public school system, and while we enjoyed our time there, the community at AHS is the nicest and most welcoming school community I have ever been in. That is saying a lot considering we just came from the land of “Midwest nice.” Our children are thriving in their AHS friendships, and we as parents love the friends we have made through our AHS experiences. All are top-notch people!

Something unique about our family:

As mentioned above, we have lived in various parts of the US. We know what it’s like to miss where you used to live even though you are grateful to be in your new place. We have children in varying stages of life (married, college, high school, elementary school) and know what it’s like to juggle busy families. (We are in the thick of it now!) We have experience with both private and public schools from preschool to college levels. We feel no situation is all good or all bad, and that every decision is unique to each child and family.

If there is one thing I’d counsel a family looking into an American Heritage School education, I would tell them…

I would tell prospective families to do your research and then be prayerful about your decisions. AHS is a truly special place and we are grateful to be here, but you have to make that decision for yourself.

We moved here from Connecticut in 2020. We were only able to get one of our children in that year, but the next year (2021-2022) our other 4 children went there as well. In 2023-2024, all 6 of our children will be at AHS.

What we love about American Heritage School:

We love so many things about American Heritage School. We love the teachers so much! They truly love their students and it shows in everything that they do. Our children have been able to feel that and we have seen miracles in our children’s lives as a result. We love the administration. They work tirelessly to provide the teachers and students with an environment that is not only successful for education, but also for testimonies to grow. We love the curriculum! We know that our children are getting the absolute best education. We love that they not only want parents involved, they encourage it! We love being in the classrooms and working closely with the teachers. We love that their education is centered on their Savior and that their testimonies are growing as their minds grow. We love the activities and sports, but we especially love that AHS recognizes that family and school comes before sports and activities!! Having our children at American Heritage is one of our greatest blessings!

Something unique about our family:

We moved here from Connecticut where the education was top rated and very different from the public schools in Utah. We drive 30 minutes to get our children to school because we love it so much!

If there is one thing I’d counsel a family looking into an American Heritage School education, I would tell them…

It is worth any and every sacrifice to have our children here.

We have lived in Arizona, Chicago, North Carolina, and then Utah for the past 4 years. We have homeschooled, been in public and charter schools, and are just SO grateful to have found AHS! We are finishing our 2nd year at American Heritage.

What we love about American Heritage School:

Everything! Honestly. Yes of course we connect with some teachers and administrators better than others, but we have genuinely been impressed with everything from the intentional support the school gives parents and families, the sports team opportunities, the high quality of the orchestra and choir programs, to the quality of the curriculum and classes offered to the high school students, even to how the Parent Service Organization is run. We could go on and on about what we love about this school.

Something unique about our family:

We moved from out of state. We have homeschooled. We have five children at the school. I (Jesika) am on the PSO board. Our children play sports.

If there is one thing I’d counsel a family looking into an American Heritage School education, I would tell them…

You have to feel 100% right about it. That is obvious, but even though the pros of this school so far outweigh any sort of cons, only if your heart tells you this is the absolute place for you and your child will you be truly happy here.

We moved here from Arizona to attend AHS. We’ve now been here for 6 years and know every single day that it was the perfect move. We LOVE THIS SCHOOL!

What we love about American Heritage School:

This is so hard because we seriously love EVERYTHING and EVERYONE! From the people at the front desk, to the maintenance people…everyone is gold. The teachers are the BEST in the country and the administration loves and cares for each child. What more could you ask for? We truly feel like we are in the best place in the world for my kid’s education!

Something unique about our family:

We’ve moved a lot and have attended every kind of school imaginable. We have even homeschooled. This school provides the perfect environment for kids to learn in every single area that matters to us MOST.

Children’s interests and activities at AHS:

Volleyball, baseball, choir, STEAM, tutoring, friends, school volunteer hours

Family Bio:

Our family has been at American Heritage School for 3 years and we live in Highland. This past year Rob was the Head Coach for the AHS Varsity and JV Boys Volleyball Teams, and I was the volunteer assistant coach. We enjoy athletics, piano, chess, spending time with family, and church activities. Rob is the Deacons Quorum Advisor and I am the Primary Secretary.

What we love about American Heritage School:

The thing we love the most about American Heritage is that the gospel of Jesus Christ plays a crucial role in the culture and educational foundation of the school. The teachers really want to assist in educating the hearts and minds our children, while maintaining that the parents are the primary teachers of their own children.

Something unique about our family:

We homeschooled our children for 4 years when they were younger. We moved to Utah in 2017 from Henderson, Nevada. Rob is a psychiatrist and I am a stay-at-home mom. We enjoy athletics and spending time together.

If there is one thing I’d counsel a family looking into an American Heritage School education, I would tell them…

that I wholeheartedly believe in foundation and core of American Heritage School which is our Savior, Jesus Christ. With all the moral relativism and other worldly teachings pushed at children and all people, I find it crucial to build a strong foundation through the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Children’s interests and activities at AHS:

Boys Basketball, Boys Soccer, Track and Field

Family Bio:

Our family moved from Provo to Mesa, AZ to Bountiful, UT and back to Utah County again. We have attended AHS for 6 total years beginning in 2014. For 3 years, our kids went to public school while Neil pursued a Masters in Business Administration. Neil works in the medical analytics industry. Our favorite thing to do as a family is to take road trips throughout the Western states. We especially enjoy Arizona where most of our cousins live and Wyoming where one set of grandparents live. Most weekends we can be found at basketball, soccer, or football games, track meets, choir performances and recitals, or working in our backyard and garden.

What we love about American Heritage School:

1. Teachers who love/care for our kids, 2. Faith-based education, 3. School security/safety

Something unique about our family:

We have lived in Lehi for 9 years and are familiar with the schools and local government here. We also know a lot about the basketball clubs, children’s choirs and theaters in Utah County.

If there is one thing I’d counsel a family looking into an American Heritage School education, I would tell them…

There are imperfect people doing their very best to run a beautiful school here. If you come into the school expecting a flawless educational experience, you will be disappointed. However, we absolutely feel that AHS does an exceptional job reinforcing what we are already trying to teach at home. Oftentimes, we are inspired to be even better because of the curriculum being taught and the examples of our children’s teachers.
