LYCEUM’S FIRST EVER BAND!

Lyceum Symphonic Winds, is the newest addition to the largest, most comprehensive youth orchestra program in the state. Symphonic Winds offers youth ages 12 to 18 an opportunity to make music with motivated musicians of like age and ability. Musicians who love music, are taking private lessons, and who aspire to develop their talents to their fullest potential. Intermediate woodwind, brass, and percussion students with one to two years of experience playing are encouraged to apply. Students should read music well with good intonation and tone, be comfortable in multiple key signatures, and be studying with a private teacher. If you questions about whether or not this ensemble is right for you, feel free to send in an audition or email us at Lyceum@AHSmail.com.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS AND INSTRUCTIONS

Submitting an audition has never been easier! Click on the button below to answer a few basic questions and submit your audition video link. Most students use a cell phone recording from a recent recital or solo performance. If you do not already have a recording on hand, simply make a video of your best playing using a cell phone. The audition video should include 3 to 5 minutes of solo playing and if possible a scale showing the maximum number of octaves the musician can play with good tone. Percussionists auditions should include basic snare drum and mallet technique.

The preferred method of providing our directors access to your audition video is to upload it to YouTube, Google Drive, iPhotos, Dropbox or other file sharing formats accessible via a link. Please verify that the link is accessible for others to view and not private. Copy your link(s) into the appropriate filed on the admission form. You should receive a confirmation email upon submission and expect to hear from us soon regarding placement.
