Teaching is My Passion — My passion is teaching and always has been! I remember playing school as a child and thinking I would love to teach someday. I am grateful for wonderful teachers in my life that instilled a love of learning and were also great examples to me as I continued down the path in becoming a teacher. I was told that I had a gift and I appreciate them in helping me to see that blessing in my life.
Favorite Interaction with Student — I was teaching about a specific topic and a student raised their hand and brought up an example from the scriptures that they learned from home and applied to their learning at school. This has happen several times throughout the year where the lessons I prepared go in a totally different direction. It’s at times like this that I know the spirit is present and true learning takes place. I have loved those special moments where we are able to share as we learn from each other. Teaching and learning are eternal principles, and I am so grateful to be a part of this eternal work.
Favorite Vacation Spot — My favorite vacation spot is Bear Lake. My family and I go up there once a year and enjoy the wonderful sunshine and beauty around us. I have several good memories there and look forward to creating more.
My Family —I was raised in Riverton, Utah. I love living in Utah. I have six siblings who are my best friends and I enjoy every chance I can to spend time with them.
“President Brigham Young once said, ‘You should not teach even the alphabet or the multiplication tables without the Spirit of God.‘ I found this to be true as I would go to work teaching, but not feeling truly fulfilled, until I came here to teach. What a blessing and honor it is to be a teacher here at American Heritage where we can be instruments in the Lord’s hands in helping others see their divine purpose and feel of God’s love for them as they learn truths and apply them in their lives. It is truly remarkable to be at a place where teachers, students, parents, administration and so many others all work together to create a place of learning where the Spirit is present and the Lord’s words are taught.”

Experiences That Prepared Me to Teach at AHS
“I learned to work hard from a young age and had a passion for teaching. It was when I was beginning college that I was able to see that I had a gift of teaching and wanted to pursue my dream of teaching. I attended Salt Lake Community College and BYU-Idaho and received a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. While attending school, I participated in several practicums, helped create curriculum and had an amazing student teaching experience that helped me to gain the skills, insights and experiences to prepare me for the classroom.”
