Why Teaching? — Teaching in Kindergarten is the best! What a beautiful transitional year, I get to be part of the magic when students realize they can read. I love the “Aha” moments when they make connections and relate to what we are learning.
Curriculum highlight — I love teaching the students about how the Bible was translated into English and why. What a beautiful journey to walk the students through, the time when Jesus Christ’s Church was removed from the Earth and then restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith.
Hobbies – I like to read. Once I start a book, I cannot put it down, so I usually wait until summer to read for joy. I like spending time in nature, creating things with my hands, trying new things, even working with power tools. I like gardening, being in the dirt, because I love the smell of the earth.
Family – I’ve been married for 30 years. My sweetheart and I are best friends. We have three children. We adopted two boys, and then after 17 years had a little miracle baby girl.
What brought you to AHS? – I observed in my neighbor and her children what I wanted for my children in education–brilliant kids, super grounded, well balanced. I came to an orientation at the school, and I loved what was said. It touched my heart. I knew this is where we needed to be.
What is unique about AHS for you? — I love the philosophy. I love being where the spirit teaches. If we allow that to happen there is a heart-to-heart connection, and the children learn. I love Kindergarten and will often use humor to connect with the students.
“I hope to leave with the students a love of learning. I want them to know that school is enjoyable and that their Heavenly Father has a plan just for them. I want them to be familiar with what it is to discern truth with the assistance of the Holy Ghost. I would love for my students to know that I love them and they are capable of achieving anything that they put their hearts to.”

What Do You Love About Working at AHS?
We get to use the gospel in all our curriculum. What a difference it makes when students can see that all things are related to our Heavenly Father’s Plan. I love teaching the students that He has a plan just for them. As we study we can see the patterns in our Providential History where many have been protected and directed as they follow the plan our Father has for them.
