Laurie Hansen comes to us from Provo School District where she taught for the last 30 years. She is married to Steve Hansen, a drafting and architecture teacher at Provo High School. They have four children. Mrs. Hansen has worked with third-, fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-graders at three different elementary schools in Provo School District. She also spent three years at BYU, supervising pre-service teachers. She completed an undergraduate and a graduate degree at BYU. Mrs. Hansen has a technology and an ESL (English as a Second Language) endorsement. She has also completed the coursework and the practicum hours necessary for a gifted & talented endorsement. In her spare time, Mrs. Hansen loves to read, spend time with family, do mental math, travel, and—believe it or not–create lesson plans! She served a mission in Rio de Janeiro, and continues to practice Portuguese daily. Mrs. Hansen loves to challenge herself and her students to push through, and do hard things. Her favorite subjects to teach are U.S. history, writing, and math.
