What brought you to AHS? — I am so excited for the opportunity to incorporate the gospel into teaching. So much of who I am is centered around Christ and his character. Teaching at a school that not only allows me but encourages me to share that part of myself with others is a dream. Teaching is not just a passion of mine but a calling and I am so excited to be at a school where I can authentically share my love of life and learning.
Favorite Student Interaction — One of my favorite projects to do with my students is the passion project. They have time to research something that they’re passionate about and then teach a lesson to the class. I love seeing them get excited about learning, taking initiative and all the effort they put into it. It’s a great way to learn more of who they are and what they love.
Why teaching? — I love to watch and encourage students to grow into the best version of themselves. Teaching gives me an opportunity to encourage a love of learning and growth.
Education — Bachelors of Education at Western Washington University. Majored in Special Education with an endorsement in Elementary Education.
Hobbies — Anything outside. Camping, hiking, fishing, paddleboarding, rock climbing. I also really enjoy playing guitar, and swing dancing.
I was raised in Washington State around the Seattle area. During COVID I moved down to Utah to finish my student teaching. I taught 6th grade at Herriman elementary for 3 years. I adore the age because they’re beginning to be more independent but they’re still curious about the world. They’re learning what they care about and they’re starting to decide who they are and what they want from life. I’m constantly learning and growing with them which makes the job so fulfilling.
