Heritage Youth Chorus EXTENDED CHOIR

We enthusiastically invite Latter-Day Saint youth from across the entire country–and across the globe!–to apply to tour with us as part of the Extended Choir on our 2026 fireside tours!

Following a rigorous audition and interview process, up to 40 youth will be selected to join the choir on one or both of our two 2026 Heritage Youth Chorus tours:
+ Texas = 6 – 13 June
+ Great Britain = 19 June – 2 July
Once selected, Extended Choir members will learn and prepare the fireside music on their own (with the aid of sheet music, practice tracks, live rehearsal streams, and formative assessments), and then gather in American Fork, Utah, for final rehearsals and a pre-tour fireside.

ELIGIBILITY

The HYC Extended Choir is open to youth who will be between the ages of 14-18 in 2026, and who live at least 50 miles away from the American Heritage School campuses in American Fork and Salt Lake City. Youth who would like to participate in the Extended Choir must meet the following criteria:
  • Be available to tour with the choir during one or both of these two time periods:
    • 6 – 13 June 2026
    • 19 June – 2 July 2026
  • Pay tour costs:
    • Tour Fee (TBD: Texas = ~$1,200; Great Britain = ~$3,500), which covers transportation, lodging, activities, and food
    • Materials Fee ($30), which covers sheet music for each singer to keep after tour
    • Matching Tour Attire for daily and performance wear ($90 for T-shirts + jacket, and ~$200 for performance attire)
  • Be willing to live the AHS Honor Code, which includes standards for dating, dress and appearance, entertainment and media, language, and other topics.

APPLICATION

Submit an online application form by 15 DECEMBER, 2025. This will include uploading a video and a letter of recommendation.

In the video, the applicant should

  1. Introduce themselves. Name, age, school, hobbies, and other interesting facts.
  2. Perform a favorite hymn or primary song (either accompanied or unaccompanied is acceptable).
  3. Tell why they chose that particular song.
  4. Sing an ascending scale, beginning with their lowest note up to their highest note.

The letter of recommendation can be from an ecclesiastical leader, a teacher, or another adult who has worked closely with the applicant for an extended period.

Applicants identified as potential Extended Choir members will be contacted to schedule an online interview with the Youth Chorus Director and one of the Tour Directors. Applicants selected to join the Extended Choir will then be asked to submit a choir registration form and a tour deposit.
